JB’s Friday 5

10102025

Hey team,

It’s Friday and this boy needs a new job.

#1 – Telepathic Instruments

A good instructional video is rare and should be treasured. I really appreciate when the extra effort has been taken to make something, that might just be a box-checking exercise, entertaining. So when Kevin Parker of Tame Impala fame made this instructional video for his new synthesiser, and had Matt Berry star in it, my hat came off.

#2 – Rotary Keyboard

I am old enough to have had the privilege of owning a rotary dial phone growing up. I will never forget the weight and tension of using one finger to input a number painfully slow. That’s why this new keyboard from Google Japan caught my eye.

#3 – Nature Taking Back

There is something really special about an overgrown garden. Nature taking back what was once theirs. This photography series is a really beautiful look at an overgrown mansion in Russia.

#4 – Shinji Tsuchimochi

I bloody love the detailed yet playful style of illustrator Shinji Tsuchimochi. Capturing the energy of Japan beautifully and in such an aesthetic way!

#5 – No Project Without Drama

A simple insight pushed to the edge of madness. This ad for Hornbach (a hardware store) is fantastic and an incredible piece of craft.

O.K.

That’s it.
