Hello Friends,
I’m back for a new year and a healthy dose of stuff I find interesting. Did you miss me?
#1 – Solar Maximum
When the solar maximum hit last year and the auroras were brightest, these nature photographers caught some of the most stunning photos of one of natures most beautiful event. The northern lights are pretty high up on my bucket list and it’s easy to see why with photos like these.
#2 – Goodbye MTV
MTV has ended their live music channel after more than 40 years. As a big fan of music videos this news made me quite sad. but faer not, some bloody legend has created MTV Rewind: a free online player that lets you recreate the MTV experience whenever you want, even letting you experience the launch from all the way back in 1981.
#3 – Trails Will Be Blazed
The 2026 Winter Olympics have begun and for the occasion the BBC have crafted this glorious stop motion film unlike anything I have ever seen. every frame has been meticulously crafted with real fire and embers to create the blazing trail effect. The spot is great but the making of, as always is better and shows just how demanding it was to create even a single frame let alone stinging them all together.
#4 – The Art Of End Cards
This on is for my Art Directors out there. End cards in ads can easily be over looked and under crafted, and yet it is the last thing we leave with an audience. Creative Martins Zelcs has collected some of the best examples around and made this site Art of the End Card to show off the best in class. It’s a great resource and sets the bar high.
#5 – Harry Roberts
As a man who’s hand writing is a kin to chicken scratch, anyone who is able to do even basic calligraphy is highly impressive. Then there is Harry Roberts… my goodness. Harry does Traditional Lettering, Sign Painting, Illustration & Calligraphy and he is really good at all of them. Check out this hand illustrated fire escape sign.
O.K.
That’s it.
