JB’s Friday 5

21062024

Hello Friend,

How are you doing? How are you really doing? I’m here if you need to chat. Big plus, it’s Friday and I found a couple of things for you.

#1 – Salvatore Ganacci - Boycycle

For the uninitiated, Salvatore Ganacci is a Swedish music producer with slick dance moves, killer style, banging tunes, and a great sense of humour. This couldn’t be clearer than in his music videos for which there are many and all made very much with tongue firmly in cheek. Watch Boycycle. Talk about some Friday inspo.

#2 – One More Thumb

Oh what I would do with one more thumb… probably hold more things. Still, it’s cool to glimpse into a possible future of what a realistic cyborg human might look like.

#3 – Hand Crafted

You can’t escape AI. It is so damn easy to generate almost any image these days that the value of anything genuinely hand crafted is growing at an exponential pace. That’s the thinking behind the considered images that are being created by the Guardian. Partly inspired by a ‘Broken Britain’ and in direct response to the rise of AI generative imagery and fake news, the newspaper’s election coverage this year is made with purposely imperfect paper cuttings.

#4 – Floor 796

Floor796 is an ever-expanding animation scene showing the life of the 796th floor of the huge space station. The goal of the project is to create as huge animation as possible, with many references to movies, games, anime, memes, and it is chocker block.

#5 – RM – Lost

Every now and then I come across something that gets me excited and reignite the creative flame inside me. This music video from RM is one of them. from the art direction and colour grading to the story and cinematography, I love this and has my mind racing with new ideas.

O.K.

That’s it.
